Job summary

Hoffman Mechanical Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead end-to-end delivery of industrial control systems for building automation projects, balancing control design, HMI/SCADA development, and PLC/DDC programming.

You will oversee bench testing, field commissioning, and documentation, coordinating procurement and ensuring quality; travel up to 30% for client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial automation, instrumentation, or PLC/DDC programming is required.
• HVAC/building automation systems understanding is preferred.
• Ability to design control system drawings and write system documentation.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specs, and submittals to produce complete control system drawings.
• Configure HMI/SCADA graphics, alarms, and trends with data historization.
• Develop PLC/DDC logic and integrate equipment like VFDs and packaged skids.
• Support bench testing, FAT, and site startup activities with up to 30% travel.
• Create project documentation including IO lists and operation sequences.
