Job summary

Hoffman & Hoffman, Inc. is seeking an Associate Automation Engineer to support design, development, and implementation of building automation systems. You will work with PLC/DDC, HMI/SCADA, and control system documentation under senior guidance.

The role targets new graduates with a technical degree and offers exposure to HVAC BAS, wiring, and on-site commissioning across projects, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/mechatronics or related field.
• 0–3+ years in industrial automation, instrumentation and controls, PLC/DDC programming, or related field.
• Familiarity with PLC/DDC, HMI configuration, industrial networking, and HVAC systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and select automation systems and generate accurate control drawings per standards.
• Configure HMI/SCADA screens aligned with company templates and standards.
• Assist PLC/DDC programming using standard templates, reusable code, or custom code.
• Support testing, device verification, and commissioning during bench and site startup; travel up to 30%.
• Maintain project documentation including IO lists and operation sequences.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in required safety training.
• Ensure document and code deliverables meet quality standards for on-time delivery.
