Job summary

Sherpa 6, Inc. is seeking a Senior/Principal Automation Engineer for a fully remote role with active Secret clearance. You’ll design scalable automation frameworks across web, Android, and Windows, using agentic AI to enhance test design and coverage.

You will own end-to-end testing tooling, collaborate with multiple teams, and help drive quality across the software lifecycle. Key responsibilities include building reference implementations, mentoring teams, and shaping AI-assisted testing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in QA or Test Engineering with hands-on ownership of test system design
• 1–2+ years of practical experience using agentic AI coding tools
• Significant hands-on contribution to building or re-architecting a test automation framework
• Experience across multiple testing layers: unit, integration, API, end-to-end, linting, static analysis
• Experience automating tests across web/mobile/desktop
• BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred)
• Understanding of design patterns and architectural principles
• Ability to influence technical direction across engineering teams
• Familiarity with Jira/Jama/Rally or similar tools
• Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

• Design and own scalable test automation frameworks for web, Android, and Windows products
• Partner with software teams to evolve end-to-end testing stack
• Define and champion agentic AI approaches to quality and test design
• Deliver solutions using current tools or build new agentic AI capabilities
• Create prototypes and reference implementations for quick adoption
• Translate requirements into automation design and actionable quality plans
• Collaborate with development and platform engineering to bake automation in from day one
• Contribute to quality standards and metrics with working examples
• Provide technical support across Agile teams as testing scales
• Stay ahead of tools and trends to improve quality engineering capabilities
• Communicate designs and decisions clearly across teams
