Job summary

GAF is seeking a Corporate Automation and Controls Engineer IV to lead control-system projects across multiple plants. The role emphasizes deep engineering mastery, technical influence, and cross-functional project guidance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The engineer will troubleshoot production-line electrical problems, mentor plant controls staff, and drive standards while collaborating with the broader controls team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 5+ years of controls engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
• 10+ years of controls engineering experience preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without sponsorship.
• Proficiency with Rockwell software - Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, FTView, CCW, and FTAC.
• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PowerFlex drives.
• HMI development experience - FTView and/or Wonderware.
• Experience maintaining production networks (servers and managed switches).
• Deep knowledge of electrical theory and instrumentation calibration (pressure, temperature, flow).
• Experience leading controls projects end-to-end (scope, vendors, startup).

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary internal engineering resource for control systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance and share best practices.
• Lead and facilitate strategic projects across multiple plants.
• Provide plant support and remote/onsite troubleshooting when needed.
• Mentor plant controls personnel to strengthen troubleshooting skills.
• Coordinate with controls group and maintain knowledge of contemporary technology.
• Perform duties as assigned by the manager.
