Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller’s Design Group is seeking a motivated Controls Engineer to join our team. You will work on automation projects, developing control systems and commissioning integrated solutions for leading manufacturing clients.

You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals and travel for installation and start-up activities as needed. You will contribute to design, testing, and deployment of PLC/SCADA solutions, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Minimum two years of direct experience as a controls engineer in automated manufacturing environments.
Proficiency in control systems, troubleshooting, and high-intensity settings.
Experience designing automation control systems (PLC, SCADA).
Understanding of UL508A panel design and fabrication.
Understanding of instrumentation and controls (I&C).
Experience with field instrumentation, control system installation and configuration.
Knowledge of machine safety applications and electrical power distribution.
Strong technical communication and reporting skills.
Willingness to travel for installation, start-up and client meetings.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or similar technical field (preferred).

Responsibilities

Develop automation solutions and participate in design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of automated manufacturing processes.
Design automation control systems and create project documentation to meet client requirements.
Diagnose automation problems and interface with teams, clients, and vendors.
Configure software and hardware per client specifications and program PLCs and HMIs.
Manage projects and deliverables to schedule and scope; oversee site construction and start-up.
Validate and commission facility systems and ensure successful turnover to the customer.
