Job summary

CDM Smith in Rhode Island is seeking an instrumentation and controls engineer to design basic through moderately complex systems using 3D/4D design practices, develop P&IDs, and assist with PLC and HMI programming.

You will review shop drawings, participate in testing, mentor junior staff, and support proposals and marketing efforts for automation projects. Travel 20%–40% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Create basic to moderately complex instrumentation and control system designs using P&IDs and control architectures.
• Review basic to highly complex component drawings and assist with testing oversight.
• Lead staff and mentor junior engineers; review their work as needed.
• Assist in preparing proposal sections and presentations; support automation strategy and projects.
• Perform other duties as required.
