Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in the Rhode Island area to design and verify instrumentation and control systems for complex projects. You will work on P&IDs, control architectures, and HMI/PLC programming, while mentoring junior staff.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree and about 5 years of related experience, with travel up to 40% possibly needed for project assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Create instrumentation and control system designs by developing P&ID’s, control architectures, specifications, and control descriptions.
• Review basic to highly complex component-level shop drawings and assist with testing oversight.
• Lead staff and mentor junior staff; review work as necessary.
• Assist in proposal sections and presentations; support marketing and automation strategy.
• Perform other duties as required.
