Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking a Senior Auto Physical Damage Claim Representative to investigate, negotiate, and resolve auto claims via phone, written correspondence, and personal contact. The role supports hybrid/remote work arrangements and focuses on coverage analysis, negotiation, and subrogation opportunities.

The position requires knowledge of auto policy language, adjuster licensure where required, and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Understanding of Commercial and Personal Auto policy language and endorsements.
• Adjuster licenses in states requiring same (within 3 months of hire).
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Damage evaluation and negotiation skills (estimates, contents replacement, etc).

Responsibilities

• Independently review/analyze policy forms to determine coverage, limits, and deductibles.
• Investigate claims via phone, in writing, or in person with parties involved.
• Review damage documentation and negotiate settlements based on evidence and policy language.
• Maintain claims system updates and document activity and reserves.
• Explore salvage, subrogation, and arbitration opportunities.
• Identify potential fraud and refer to SIU as needed.
• Coordinate with vendors for inspection, repair, and rental arrangements.
• Determine best path for each claim between service center and field handling.
• Ensure compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.
