Job summary

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Augusta is seeking a Senior Auditor to lead audits, mentor staff, and coordinate with the State Auditor and Controller’s Office. This supervisory role emphasizes GAAP/MAAP knowledge, regulatory compliance, and independent judgment.

The role requires professional auditing experience, CPA/CIA/CISA or MBA qualifications, and a strong background in government auditing environments. Partial telework is allowed with management approval.

Qualifications

• CPA/CIA/CISA or MBA with 1 year audit experience, or a BA in Accounting with 3 years auditing experience or equivalent government auditing experience.
• Experience supervising or leading audit staff.
• Government auditing experience or working supervisor capacity desirable.
• Strong communication and analytical skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor audits of the Department’s programs with the Internal Audit team.
• Coordinate with State Auditor and Controller’s Office for timely inquiries and responses.
• Apply GAAP/MAAP and auditing standards in supervisory, independent audits.
• Mentor audit staff and review work papers and staff performance.
• Assist in annual planning and development of work schedules and programs for audit oversight.
• Maintain high initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
