Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Social Services seeks a Senior Auditor to oversee professional auditing staff and conduct audits of agency programs and providers for compliance and efficiency. You will prepare and review reports, advise on internal controls, and lead conferences as needed.

Responsibilities include updating risk assessments, developing audit guides, and training staff on new procedures, while safeguarding PII and ensuring regulatory compliance across all programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with three years of accounting or auditing experience; Master's degree requires one year of auditing experience.
• Five years of auditing experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Performs audits and supervises staff in audits of accounting, financial, statistical, and program records for internal control, efficiency, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Prepares, reviews, and edits audit reports and workpapers; recommends improvements in internal controls.
• Presides over entry and exit conferences where necessary and appropriate.
• Assists with development and updating of the Agency-wide risk assessment.
• Assists in establishing, updating, and revising audit guides, audit programs, or working paper formats; conducts training on new developments.
• Keeps abreast of changes in federal/state laws, auditing standards, and regulations for DSS programs.
• Ensures protection of Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and safeguards agency networks and data.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, tax prep/analysis, or a related field

Master's Degree in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, tax prep/analysis, or a related field

Five (5) years of auditing experience
