Purpose of Position

Leads the planning, performance, reporting and follow up of internal audits and other assigned projects and tasks, independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborates with Internal Audit leadership in planning, coordinating, and executing internal audit activities across the university.
  • Independently plans and conducts audits by surveying operations, developing audit programs, preparing work papers, and evaluating internal controls and compliance programs.
  • Reviews audit reports prepared by other auditors and provides guidance and oversight to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Facilitates the delivery of audit findings through clear, concise written reports and oral presentations to stakeholders.
  • Tracks and reports time spent on audit assignments and other responsibilities on a weekly basis to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Adheres to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics established by The Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management or information systems.
  • A minimum of three (3) years previous relevant experience in accounting or auditing position(s) within a public or private college or university, a state or federal agency, an accounting/auditing firm, or with a corporation; high ethical standards and values.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), accounting, management, information systems, or education administration and/or Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to organize and direct major work activities; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practice of accounting and auditing.
Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm.
  • Flexible start times between 7:00 a.m. or as late as 8:30 a.m.
  • 10% Travel.
  • Requires occasional evening or weekend hours.
