Job summary

New York City School Construction Authority seeks a Senior Attorney (Litigation) to lead construction litigation matters and negotiate contracts, reporting to the General Counsel. The ideal candidate has a JD, NY bar admission, and at least six years of relevant experience including four years in construction or contracts.

The Senior Attorney will advise on laws, coordinate with multiple departments, and help close out liens while improving compliance and project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Authority at mediations involving construction contracts, disputes, and other matters.
• Oversee construction litigation and lien foreclosure actions.
• Negotiate and draft license agreements, contracts, and memoranda of understanding.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on complex legal issues with minimal direction.
• Provide general legal support to the Authority as required.
• Report to senior management regarding the status and progress of assigned matters.
• Review and recommend changes to existing policies and procedures within designated divisions to improve compliance.
• Provide legal advice regarding contract and project closeout procedures.
