Job summary

NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) is seeking a Senior Attorney in New York, NY. The role reports to the Deputy General Counsel and focuses on providing legal advice regarding actions, strategies, and issues across the Authority’s divisions.

You will draft, review and negotiate contracts and license agreements, coordinating with Real Estate Services and other departments. Required are a JD from an accredited law school, admission to the NYS Bar, and at least four years in construction,

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to the NYS Bar in good standing.
• Four years of experience in construction, contracts, real estate, housing, environmental laws or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate, draft and review contracts, Letters of Intent, MOUs, Contracts of Sale, Licenses and Leases.
• Draft assignment and assumption agreements between NYC Department of Education and the Authority.
• Advise staff on real property transactions including construction matters and the NYC Construction Code.
• Research complex legal issues and provide support to divisions on acquisitions, licenses and construction.
