Job summary

Leadenhall Search & Selection is seeking an Associate General Counsel or Senior Associate General Counsel for a leading energy and utilities organization in Hawaii. The role focuses on broad commercial transactions, risk assessment and strategic guidance for senior business leaders.

The candidate will manage sophisticated contracts, negotiate diverse agreements, and mentor junior lawyers while advising on regulatory matters and internal policy development.

Qualifications

• JD and active membership in good standing with a US State Bar, with ability to obtain admission in Hawaii.
• 4+ years of legal experience.
• Strong commercial and business law background.
• Significant experience with contracts and complex commercial transactions.
• Ability to independently assess legal and commercial risks.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Commercially minded and comfortable working directly with senior business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and advise on complex commercial contracts and transactions.
• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Partner directly with senior leadership and cross-functional business teams.
• Advise on commercial and corporate liabilities and emerging legal risks.
• Translate complex legal issues into practical, commercially focused advice.
• Support strategic projects and high-profile business initiatives.
• Advise across related areas including Finance, Construction, Federal contracts and grants, Technology, Data privacy, Regulatory matters.
• Help develop internal policies, procedures and risk-management strategies.
• Manage and provide direction to external counsel.
• Support matters before governmental agencies or courts where required.
