Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham's Heersink School of Medicine seeks a Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professional Development to lead faculty affairs and development initiatives. Reporting to the Dean, this role drives leadership programs, wellness, and access and engagement across HSOM.

Ideal candidates have MD/PhD or equivalent and tenured status, with a strong track record in academic leadership, collaboration, and mentorship.

Qualifications

• MD/PhD or equivalent required.
• Tenured associate or full professor status is required.
• Proven record of leadership in academic medicine and faculty development.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for academic affairs and professional development across HSOM.
• Supervise Offices of Faculty Affairs, Leadership Development, Wellness, and Access and Engagement.
• Collaborate with HR, legal, and university partners on faculty policies and development initiatives.
• Advise the Dean on recruitment, leadership succession, and organizational development.
• Represent HSOM with Provost's Office, UAB Medicine, and Birmingham VA Health Care services.
