Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Associate Biologist to join the Southern California Ecosystems Group. The role involves leading field teams, mentoring staff, and coordinating field surveys and environmental assessments for renewable energy, oil and gas, transportation, and development projects across southern California.

The position offers both field and office work with potential travel, and requires a bachelor’s or master’s in Biological Sciences or related field with 5+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility in conducting biological resources surveys and preparing technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor project field teams and provide support to project managers on multiple development projects.
• Schedule, assist, and/or lead field tasks such as surveys, nesting bird surveys, vegetation assessments, and jurisdictional waters delineations.
• Plan, prepare, and review technical reports or portions of environmental assessments.
• Contribute to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and assist with new business opportunities and technical proposals.
