Job summary

Stantec in Southern California seeks an Associate Biologist with 5+ years of experience to join our Ecosystems Group. The role involves leading field teams, coordinating surveys, and contributing to environmental assessments, with opportunities for field and office work.

Travel is required and collaboration with regulators and clients is part of the position; a degree in Biological Sciences or related field is required, with expertise in southern California ecosystems preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Ecology, or Natural Resources Management.
• Minimum 5 years of related field experience with biological resources surveys and reporting.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary teams and field oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor field teams on multi-disciplinary environmental projects.
• Plan and coordinate field surveys (special-status species, nesting birds, vegetation mapping).
• Prepare and review technical reports and environmental assessments.
• Contribute to proposals, define scope, and assist with cost and sections.
• Support client/regulator communications and permitting strategies.
• Travel overnight within and outside southern California as needed.
