Job summary

The University of New England in Portland, Maine seeks an experienced professional to serve as the Senior Assistant Director of Financial Planning within the Student Financial Services division. The role provides high-level financial counseling, develops financial literacy education, and oversees private loan processing to ensure clear guidance for students.

You will report to the Senior Director and collaborate across campus with Admissions, Registrar, and Student Accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in student financial services or related roles.
• Ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to students and families.
• Knowledge of federal loan programs, private education loans, and financing strategies.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to groups.
• Collaborative, service-oriented problem solver.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level financial counseling and planning guidance to students.
• Develop financial literacy education and deliver workshops.
• Oversee private education loan certification and processing.
• Coordinate with graduate/professional programs and campus partners.
• Support student communications and outreach by the SFS team.
