Description

The Associate Director of Student Employment provides leadership, coordination, and daily operational management of the University’s student employment programs, including Federal Work Study ( FWS ), Institutional Work, and eligible off-campus employment partnerships. This position ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, supports campus departments in hiring and supervising student workers, maintains accurate payroll processes, and advances student employment as a meaningful component of engagement, retention, and student success.

The Associate Director serves as the primary resource for students, supervisors, and campus partners regarding student employment policies, procedures, and best practices. The role supervises professional and student staff, contributes to policy development, and works collaboratively across the University, including Payroll, Human Resources, and the Office of Career Readiness to strengthen and expand the student employment experience.

• Lead the design and implementation of financial literacy education, including workshops, presentations, online learning modules, and resource materials on budgeting, borrowing, credit management, and financial decision‑making.
• Manage and oversee private education loan certification and processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely communication with lenders and students.
• Serve as the primary resource for graduate and professional programs on financing pathways, cost structures, and private loan considerations.
• Develop clear, student‑centered communications, including email messaging, website content, planning tools, and financial education materials.
• Support SFS service operations by assisting with student escalations, financial planning appointments, outreach campaigns, and policy awareness initiatives.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to Student Support Services staff on financial planning topics and student service best practices.
• Collaborate closely with Admissions, Registrar, Student Accounts, academic advising, and other campus partners to ensure coordinated and consistent student support.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in in Higher Education, Counseling, Finance, or related field and 5+ experience in student financial services, financial counseling, financial wellness education, or related higher education roles or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

• Experience conducting 1:1 financial counseling with students or clients (minimum 1 year).
• Demonstrated ability to explain financial concepts (cost of attendance, budgeting, credit, loan options, repayment) to non‑expert audiences.
• Experience managing private loan processing or other compliance‑driven financial workflows.
• Proven ability to develop or deliver financial education (e.g., workshops, presentations, online modules, or written content).
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, student‑centered email, web, and print content.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams (e.g., Admissions, Registrar, Student Accounts) to support coordinated service delivery.
• Proficiency with financial aid systems, CRM tools, or student information systems (e.g., Banner, CampusLogic, Slate).
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases, appointments, deadlines, and outreach campaigns simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Finance, or related field.
• Experience supporting graduate/professional students or complex academic programs.
• Experience designing financial literacy programs or educational materials.
• Knowledge of Title IV regulations, private loan processes, and institutional financing policies.
• Experience training staff or supporting frontline student service teams.
• Knowledge of Banner, NSLDS, COD, EdConnect, and private loan processing systems.
