Job summary

Duluth Trading Company seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to own the general ledger and drive the monthly close through SEC filings. This role partners with the Controller, CFO, and auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Based at our headquarters near Madison, WI, the position offers in-office collaboration Monday-Thursday with a Friday work-from-home option. CPA is preferred, 7+ years of experience, and 3+ years of leadership are ideal.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in BBA in accounting or related field is prefered - Equivalent work experience will be considered
• CPA is highly preferred
• 7+ Years of experience
• 3+ Years of management experience
• SEC experience as part of a company or public accounting firm
• Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Familiar with U.S. federal, state and local reporting requirements

Responsibilities

• Maintain an accurate general ledger with clear documentation of all transactions and intercompany transactions
• Review and approve GL entries prepared by other staff members
• Supervise the month-end close and prepare designated schedules, journal entries, and financial statements as needed
• Draft annual/quarterly public financial statements, footnotes and MD&A, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Assist with research and documentation of technical accounting matters, including Accounting Policy documents
• Assist in preparing or reviewing schedules to support quarterly reviews and year-end audit, coordinating year-end closing procedures with external auditors
• Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the financial reporting process under Sarbanes-Oxley
• Improve efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations
