Duluth Trading Company is seeking an Assistant Controller to own the general ledger and oversee the monthly close through to SEC filings. You will collaborate with the Controller, CFO, FP&A, legal, and auditors to ensure accurate reporting.

Responsibilities include supervising GL entries, preparing financial statements, and maintaining accounting policy documentation while driving process improvements. Headquartered near Madison, WI, the role offers hybrid work with some remote Fridays.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in accounting or related field required
• CPA highly preferred
• 7+ years of accounting experience
• 3+ years of management experience
• SEC experience in a company or public accounting firm
• Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Familiar with U.S. federal, state and local reporting requirements
• Team player with ability to work independently and take on challenges
• Excellent time management, prioritization and multitasking
• Ability to streamline processes and create efficiencies
• Experience in cost and tax accounting a plus
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Maintain an accurate general ledger and document all transactions and intercompany activity
• Review and approve GL entries prepared by staff
• Lead the month-end close and prepare schedules, journal entries and financial statements
• Draft annual/quarterly financial statements, footnotes and MD&A disclosures
• Assist with technical accounting matters and maintain Accounting Policy documentation
• Coordinate schedules for quarterly reviews and year-end audit with external auditors
• Maintain SOX controls over financial reporting processes
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements in accounting operations
