Job summary

8090 is hiring an Assistant Controller to be the Finance Leader’s right-hand, owning the accounting engine and monthly close. You will drive accuracy, enable the first annual audit, and design scalable controls for a fast-growing, venture-backed company.

Based onsite in Redwood City, you’ll build equity administration foundations, including cap table management and stock-based compensation accounting, collaborating with Legal and People teams.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license is required.
• 7+ years accounting experience including 3+ years public accounting.
• Experience in high-growth/venture-backed companies is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606.
• Experience in equity administration and stock-based comp accounting.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly and annual close with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Improve payables/receivables, payroll, cash, prepaid and accrual processes.
• Build board/investor reporting sections and assist audits.
• Design internal controls and SOX-readiness as the company scales.
• Lead ERP/finance tech improvements and automate workflows.

Public accounting (Big 4 or national)

Close ownership (month-end)

US GAAP knowledge (ASC 606)

Stock-based compensation (ASC 718)

ERP systems proficiency (NetSuite)
