Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Sr. Technical Revenue Accountant for a 6-month contract in Costa Mesa, CA. The role emphasizes ASC 606 revenue recognition, contract review, and cross-functional collaboration with accounting, finance, legal, and operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting foundation, with experience in U.S. GAAP and complex revenue arrangements, supporting audits and disclosures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition.
• Experience reviewing contracts and documenting technical accounting conclusions.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Excellent analytical and research skills.
• Strong written communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review customer contracts and evaluate revenue recognition under ASC 606.
• Analyze complex or non-standard revenue arrangements and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
• Prepare technical accounting memos and supporting documentation.
• Evaluate contract modifications, variable consideration, performance obligations, and transaction price considerations.
• Support month-end and quarter-end revenue accounting activities.
• Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with revenue-related financial statement disclosures.
• Support internal and external audit requests related to revenue recognition.
