Job summary

Ookla invites an early-career Revenue Recognition Accountant to join the Accounting team, focusing on ASC 606 compliance and revenue recognition for complex contracts. You will handle month-end close activities, reconciliations, and journal entries while collaborating with Billing, Sales, and Operations.

Ideal candidates have hands-on ASC 606 experience, strong accounting fundamentals, and the ability to work in a remote environment within EST hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA eligibility or preference.
• 1–3 years of professional accounting experience with ASC 606.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Support revenue recognition activities in accordance with ASC 606 and US GAAP.
• Review customer contracts and supporting documentation to determine revenue recognition treatment.
• Prepare and maintain revenue schedules and reconciliations, including deferred revenue and recognized revenue.
• Create accurate and complete documentation supporting revenue recognition conclusions and journal entries.
• Research and resolve discrepancies between contracts, billing information, and other related accounting records.
• Assist with contract modifications and changes that impact revenue recognition.
• Support internal and external audit requests with schedules and documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance, Billing, Sales, Operations, and cross-functional teams on revenue and billing questions.
• Assist with improving revenue accounting processes, controls, reporting, and documentation.
• Perform additional accounting and financial analysis or ad-hoc projects as needed.
• Assist with ERP implementation.
