Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Senior Business Development Engineer for US Army engagements, reporting to the Director of Applications Engineering. You will translate Army requirements into technically sound, winnable solutions and demonstrate interoperability of our tactical portfolio to Army evaluation teams.

The role involves up to 50% travel, substantial field demonstrations, and collaboration with engineering and BD teams to craft responsive program solutions for DoD environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related C5ISR field with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma/GED with at least 9 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience with Software-Defined Radios (SDRs), IP-based tactical routing protocols, and tactical communication systems.
• Strong knowledge of US Army tactical procurement pathways and Army Futures Command priorities.
• Proficiency with RF instruments (signal generators, spectrum analyzers).
• Willingness to travel frequently (50%).
• Security Clearance: Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain within 15 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Analyze US Army Capability Set requirements and Mission Command network design goals to map operational gaps to our tactical radio capabilities.
• Conduct market research to identify end-to-end product solutions and synergies with emerging industry partners; collaborate with the Applications Engineering team to test and evaluate architectures.
• Design and build demonstrations tailored to the Army, highlighting future tactical edge network possibilities.
• Lead technical planning, network configuration, and live-on-the-air execution of field trials and evaluations with BD and Applications Engineering teams.
• Collaborate to leverage large-scale testing and competitive benchmarking data to ensure architectures are sound.
• Engage Army program managers, S&T leads, and warfare centers to translate advanced technology capabilities into program requirements.
• Serve as technical anchor for RFI/RFP response, providing direction and ensuring proposal accuracy and alignment.
