Job summary

CVS Health Corporation seeks a Distinguished Engineer to provide technical leadership across platform engineering, developer tooling, and AI-enabled software development. You will define strategy and architecture for DevEx platforms and partner with Acceleration teams to ensure a cohesive engineering ecosystem.

This hands-on leadership role requires influencing architectural decisions, advancing open source initiatives, and driving AI-powered engineering workflows across a large enterprise.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering with senior leadership experience.
• Experience leading strategy and architecture in large-scale enterprises.
• Hands-on with internal developer platforms, Kubernetes-based infrastructure, cloud-native tech, and CI/CD ecosystems.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development, coding assistants, agentic tools, and AI-enabled SDLC practices.
• Proven ability to influence technical strategy across organizational boundaries without direct authority.
• Active participation and credibility within open source communities.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical direction for a core DevEx domain.
• Partner with Acceleration leadership to align platform investments (CAP, CI/CD, software supply chain security).
• Influence architecture across platforms for interoperability, AI-enabled systems, observability, and edge computing patterns.
• Lead the AI-enabled SDLC strategy and adoption of AI coding assistants and toolchains.
• Shape how AI technologies transform planning, development, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Contribute to open source strategy, licensing, and best practices for consumption/contribution.
• Champion evolution of Flip toward open, AI-driven, edge-enabled solutions.
• Engage with open source communities and establish best practices.
• Influence senior engineers and leaders to elevate technical standards.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy for developer productivity platforms and security tooling.
• Lead technical due diligence for vendor/open source selections including API gateways and portals.
