Job summary

Chronicle Heritage is seeking a Senior Archaeologist to serve as a Project Manager based in our Portland office, with an option for remote work. You will lead technical studies, oversee field and desktop research, and ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables for projects under federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of experience managing survey, testing, and data recovery projects in environments like environmental, engineering, or cultural consulting firms.
• 2+ years of experience serving as a Project Manager or Principal Investigator on survey, testing, and data recovery projects.
• Expert knowledge of CRM principles, practices, and regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
• Knowledge of research methods and ability to maintain client and interagency relationships.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical studies and ensure high-quality, on-time deliverables.
• Oversee field and desktop research and impact analysis across projects.
• Provide technical and interdisciplinary team oversight.
• Quality control for all deliverables and regulatory compliance.
• Train and mentor staff and engage in professional development.
• Interface with clients and external stakeholders.
• Keep updated on CRM regulations and industry trends.
• Oversee field investigations of project sites and data interpretation.
• Develop and maintain business relationships and pursue new leads and proposals.
