Job summary

TTL is seeking an experienced Senior Archaeologist to lead archaeological projects across Texas and neighboring states. As Principal Investigator, you will oversee field surveys, data recovery, and reporting while ensuring compliance with Section 106, NEPA, and related regulations.

Qualified candidates bring a Master’s in archaeology or related field, 5+ years of CRM fieldwork, and proven supervision and writing skills. Travel to remote field sites and coordination with agencies are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, historic preservation, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of archaeological field experience, preferably in CRM.
• Ability to obtain regionally-specific permits (e.g., ARPA permits, THC Antiquities permits).
• Knowledge of Section 106, NEPA, and other state and federal regulations.
• Experience supervising archaeological projects in the Southern/Gulf States.
• Demonstrated technical writing ability with authored/co-authored reports.
• Proficiency with digital field technology (GPS, Trimble, total station) and GIS applications.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Principal Investigator for archaeological projects ranging from desktop reviews, surveys, testing, and data recovery operations.
• Supervise field teams, including technicians, crew chiefs, and project archaeologists.
• Develop research designs and permit applications for archaeological investigations.
• Conduct archival research and field surveys to identify and record archaeological and historic resources.
• Coordinate with clients, resource agencies, and landowners/land agents.
• Prepare technical reports, NHPA Section 106 consultation documents, and NEPA document sections.
• Curate archaeological materials and field records at state and federal repositories.
• Provide guidance on field protocols and safety considerations.
• Perform quality control on project documentation.
• Assist with proposal writing, budgeting, and business development.
