Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Archaeologist to lead cultural resources projects from a US office. You will guide multi-state investigations and regulatory deliverables while mentoring junior staff and developing client relationships.

The role spans field and office work, with travel to client sites as needed, and opportunities to grow ERM’s cultural resources practice in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6–8 years of related paid experience.
• Secretary of the Interior-qualified archaeologist as RPA; meets SHPO requirements.
• Field oversight for inventory, survey, testing, or data recovery efforts.
• Experience authoring and reviewing agency reports and NEPA sections.

Responsibilities

• Lead archaeological investigations and regulatory deliverables with quality and consistency.
• Oversee desktop studies and field activities across multi-state projects.
• Mentor archaeologists; support hiring, training, and engagement.
• Develop client relationships and expand opportunities for ERM.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable solutions.
