Job summary

Lewis Tree Service is seeking a Crew Leader to supervise vegetation management crews for utility clients. You will lead daily operations, ensure safe practices, plan tasks, and coach new hires. Travel and emergency response may be required as part of a dedicated field team.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years in tree crews, ANSI Z133 and A300 knowledge, and strong leadership. CDL/medical certification and CPR/First Aid are valued and supported by Lewis Tree Service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a tree crew or utility vegetation management.
• Knowledge of ANSI Z133 safety requirements and A300 pruning standards.
• Proficiency in identifying poisonous plants.
• Understanding of electrical circuit basics and circuit maps.
• Advanced tree ascent/descent using ropes and safety saddle; skilled in aerial lift ops.
• Crew Leader tech knowledge or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required; medical certification.
• Training and licenses for herbicide use as needed.
• CPR and First Aid certification (provided by Lewis).
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
• Compliance with state, local, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily tree crew operations and ensure safe, efficient work practices.
• Plan and assign tasks based on crew skills and job requirements.
• Monitor crew performance and coach new hires for training and promotions.
• Maintain updated contact info and report availability or fitness-for-duty concerns.
• Conduct field trainings and job briefings for crew readiness.
• Enforce safety standards and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Identify jobsite hazards and implement safeguards.
• Make decisions on work slowdown due to weather or safety concerns.
• Perform tree trimming/removal near energized lines and operate equipment.
• Interpret work orders and utility drawings related to line voltage.
• Maintain clean, organized vehicles and job sites.
• Communicate with property owners for access and permissions.
• Promote positive relationships with customers and utility reps.
• Respond to emergencies to aid in service restoration.
• Maintain records on crew performance and equipment issues.
