Job summary

Lewis Tree Service is hiring a Crew Leader to supervise utility vegetation management crews, ensuring safe, efficient tree trimming and line clearance for utilities and clients. The role emphasizes training, leadership, and strict safety adherence.

You will plan tasks, monitor performance, manage incidents, and engage with customers while traveling as required. CDL may be needed; comprehensive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in a tree crew or utility vegetation management.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI Z133 Safety Requirements and A300 pruning standards.
• CPR and First Aid certified.
• Valid driver’s license and CDL as needed.
• Willingness to travel frequently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily tree crew operations with emphasis on safety and efficiency.
• Plan tasks based on crew skills and job requirements.
• Monitor crew performance and coach/discipline as needed.
• Maintain crew contact information and report availability.
• Provide field training and job briefings for readiness.
• Enforce safety standards and report incidents immediately.
• Identify hazards and implement safeguards.
• Make weather-related work decisions.
• Perform tree trimming, removal near energized lines, using climbing or lifts.
• Operate trucks, chippers, lifts, and saws.
• Interpret work orders and utility drawings.
• Maintain clean work vehicles and sites.
• Communicate with property owners for access and permissions.
• Promote positive relations with customers and partners.
• Coordinate with emergency services when needed.
• Maintain records on performance, incidents, and equipment.
• Investigate incident reports and damage claims as assigned.
• Control crew costs with efficient resource use.
• Stay informed on policies and standards.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in service restoration.
