Job summary

Lewis Tree Service is seeking a Crew Leader to supervise tree crews performing vegetation management for utilities and clients. You’ll train, coach, and evaluate crew members, enforce safety standards, and coordinate tasks based on crew skills and job requirements.

Expect to travel frequently, oversee equipment use, and maintain accurate records of work performed and incidents. This role emphasizes leadership and safety in outdoor, field-based conditions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a tree crew or utility vegetation management.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI Z133 safety requirements and A300 pruning standards.
• Proficiency in identifying poisonous plants.
• Electrical circuit basics and interpreting circuit maps.
• Tree ascent/descent using ropes and safety saddle; aerial lift operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily tree crew operations with safety and efficiency.
• Plan tasks based on crew skills and job requirements.
• Monitor crew performance and manage training and discipline.
• Maintain crew contact info and report availability or fitness-for-duty to foreman.
• Conduct field training and briefings to ensure readiness.
• Enforce safety standards and company policies; report hazards.
• Identify jobsite hazards and implement safeguards.
• Oversee tree trimming/removal near energized lines.
• Operate equipment including trucks, chippers, lifts, and saws.
• Interpret work orders and utility drawings; ensure paperwork is complete.
