Job summary

The South Shore YMCA’s Emilson Branch seeks an Aquatics Director to lead a large, year-round Aquatics Department, overseeing five bodies of water and a broad team of staff and lifeguards. You’ll shape programming, safety, and facility operations while collaborating with branch leaders to advance the YMCA’s mission.

You will develop staff, manage budgets, and ensure high-quality, member-focused experiences across swim lessons, private lessons, and Red Cross programs, with opportunities to expand

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, education, or a related field preferred.
• Three+ years of progressive Aquatics, recreation, or leadership experience required.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid and Lifeguard certifications; CPO preferred or obtainable within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and strategic direction for Emilson Aquatics programming and operations.
• Develops and grows high-quality Aquatics programs based on community needs and financial performance.
• Oversees two indoor pools, two outdoor pools, a whirlpool, and related spaces ensuring safety and compliance.
• Manages staffing, scheduling, onboarding, coaching, and performance development for full-time and part-time staff.
• Collaborates with Facilities, branch leadership, and Association partners to maintain safety and program quality.
