Job summary

The Summerville Family YMCA is seeking an experienced Aquatics Director to lead the operations of its indoor and outdoor pools and aquatic programs. The role focuses on safety, program quality, and mission-driven fiscal management across both facilities.

Key duties include overseeing swim lessons and swim team, coordinating events, and supporting branch fundraising efforts. Strong leadership, communication, and YMCA values are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or 2-year degree with related experience; high school with extensive related experience.
• YMCA Senior Director Certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of YMCA management policy and procedures.
• Superior public relations skills; strong verbal and written communication.
• Commitment to YMCA values, philosophies and ideals; ability to develop relationships with staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of all YMCA pools and aquatic programs.
• Coordinate with CPO for indoor/outdoor pools.
• Manage swim lessons and swim team knowledge.
• Coordinate events such as Flowertown Festival, Triathlon, Healthy Kids Day.
• Assist in fundraising activities including annual campaigns.
• Plan and organize swim meets with Head Coach; supervise aquatic staff.
• Ensure policies and procedures for association plans; manage budgets and expenses.
• Develop new programs; recruit and train aquatic personnel; ensure safety and risk management.
• Promote YMCA mission and values; build community relations; ensure facility safety and supervision.
• Collaborate with branch executive director on facility supervision and program coverage.
• Promote membership and program enrollment.
