Job summary

The South Shore YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director to lead the Emilson Aquatics Department at the Hanover branch. You will oversee two indoor pools, two outdoor pools, and a whirlpool, directing budgeting, staffing, programming, safety, and branch collaboration.

We seek a proactive, organized leader who can balance daily operations with long-term planning, develop future leaders, and provide exceptional member experiences in a busy year-round setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, education, business, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive Aquatics, recreation, operations, or related leadership experience preferred.
• Experience supervising both full-time and part-time staff.
• Ability to manage a large operation with multiple programs and facilities.
• Experience with staff coaching, performance management and accountability.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, planning and problem-solving.
• Ability to delegate while maintaining oversight.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for Emilson Aquatics programming and operations.
• Develop and grow high-quality Aquatics programs based on community needs and financial performance.
• Maintain year-round planning for sessions, staffing, and schedules.
• Review registrations, waitlists, and enrollment to support growth while ensuring safety.
• Ensure accurate program setup, rosters, material, and internal communication.
• Lead an Aquatics leadership team and collaborate with facilities and branch leadership.
