Job summary

City of Fort Lauderdale seeks an experienced aquatic operations supervisor to manage the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex. The role includes coordinating competitive and recreational events, supervising staff, and overseeing pool maintenance and water quality, with authority in the manager's absence.

The position requires strong supervisory skills, event operations experience, and a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework in recreation, business or public administration, or equivalent experience.
• Three or more years aquatics-related experience including lifeguarding, programming, coaching or related activities.
• Experience with event operations, marketing, and at least one year of supervisory responsibility.
• Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Certified Pool Operator certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the enforcement of pool rules and city ordinances for public safety.
• Oversees pool maintenance, tests water quality, and ensures compliance with policies and health regulations.
• Develops and coordinates pool programs for fitness, education, and enjoyment.
• Prepares schedules and coordinates events, teams, training, and special activities.
• Assigns work, supervises staff, and coordinates lifeguards, mechanics, and coaches.
• Prepares contracts, service agreements, and program proposals.
• Compiles attendance, facility use, and budget reports; assists with operating budget.
