Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a Part-Time Facilities Worker to support public pool operations. This role focuses on pool maintenance, chemical handling, and safety in a municipal aquatic facility.

The position is limited to 32 hours per week and follows city policy guidelines. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a commercial aquatic setting and hold a current CPO or AFO certification.

Qualifications

• Have one (1) year paid experience in the maintenance or operation of a commercial aquatic facility.
• Must hold a current Certified Pool Operator's Certification (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO).
• Must obtain American Red Cross CPR & First Aid certification within six (6) months from date of employment.
• If assigned to Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex, must obtain basic SCUBA certification within six (6) months from date of employment).

Responsibilities

• Conducts pool water quality tests and monitors pool water temperatures.
• Maintains daily maintenance and pool chemical usage logs.
• Maintains and cleans pool deck areas, brushes pool surface areas and cleans tiles, pool equipment and components such as skimmers, gutters, ladders and railings.
• Assists with pool equipment and operational set up/break down for recreational programs and/or special events.
• May operate pool filtration equipment.
• May water, weed and maintain landscaped areas.
• May supervise and participate in setting up and taking down benches, seats, chairs and other equipment.
