Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an experienced AI/ML engineer to turn ambiguous business problems into production-ready AI solutions for federal clients. The role involves end-to-end delivery from discovery to production, including design, development, demonstration, and governance.

You will work across client delivery, internal products, and rapid proofs of concept, collaborating with engineers, executives, and end users.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and shipping production software.
• 2+ years hands-on experience building applications that integrate large language models.
• Strong programming ability in Python, TypeScript, or SQL with API integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery with business and technical stakeholders to understand the workflow and success criteria.
• Define measurable success criteria before building, including accuracy targets and acceptance conditions.
• Recommend against AI when a simpler solution is appropriate and identify that early.
• Select the AI pattern appropriate to the problem (extraction, classification, summarization, retrieval, or agentic workflows).
• Architect and decide where workloads run, balancing quality, cost, latency, security, and access.
