Groundswell is seeking an experienced engineer who turns ambiguous business problems into AI solutions, working across discovery, build, and production. You will engage stakeholders, design the approach, implement end-to-end systems, and ensure operational readiness with governance and documentation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and shipping production software.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience building AI-integrated applications (LLMs, retrieval augmentation, structured extraction).
• Strong programming ability in Python, TypeScript, or SQL with API integration and imperfect data handling.
• Proven ability to lead requirements conversations with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead client discovery with stakeholders to understand workflow and decision criteria.
• Define measurable success criteria including accuracy targets and acceptance conditions.
• Recommend against AI when a simpler solution suffices and identify non-AI improvements.
• Select AI patterns appropriate to problems (extraction, classification, summarization, retrieval, or agentics).
• Design architecture decisions on where workloads run considering quality, cost, latency, and security.
• Build the complete capability including prompts, retrieval design, APIs, and UI, not just AI components.
• Create evaluation sets and measure results; iterate based on data.
• Operationalize capabilities with governance, logging, and traceability.
• Produce documentation describing solution, validation, and failure modes.
• Monitor quality, cost, latency, and drift post-launch and optimize.
