Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an experienced AI Solutions Engineer to turn ambiguous business problems into production AI capabilities for federal clients. You will engage stakeholders, design approaches, build end-to-end solutions, and own production deployment and governance.

The role requires strong AI pattern selection, rigorous engineering, and clear client communication. You will collaborate across discovery, build, proofs of concept, and internal enablement, mentoring peers and shaping reusable

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and shipping production software.
• 2+ years building apps integrating large language models (prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction, tools, agent patterns).
• Experience evaluating AI system quality with test sets and deployment decisions.
• Strong programming ability in Python, TypeScript, or SQL with API integration and working with imperfect data.
• Ability to lead requirements conversations with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery with stakeholders to understand workflow and success criteria.
• Define measurable success criteria including accuracy targets and failure definitions.
• Recommend against AI when simpler solutions suffice.
• Choose AI patterns (extraction, classification, summarization, retrieval, agentic) appropriately.
• Decide runtime deployment considering quality, cost, latency, security, and authorization.
• Build complete capabilities including prompts, retrieval design, APIs, data handling, and UI.
• Create evaluation sets and iterate based on results.
• Determine readiness for deployment and monitor post-launch performance.
• Operationalize capabilities with governance, logging, and traceability.
• Produce client-facing documentation and design rationale.
• Mentor engineers to raise the team's capability.
