Janus Henderson Investors is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to lead the delivery of enterprise AI products and platform services. You will design, build, and productionise agentic applications and platform services, own end-to-end business applications on the AI stack, and drive SaaS decommissioning where in-house capabilities replace subscriptions.

Qualifications

• Six+ years in software, data, or platform engineering.
• Production experience with LLM applications and agentic systems.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience building agentic capability (e.g., MCP servers, tools or connectors).
• Experience with a major cloud (preferably Azure) including containers, IaC, CI/CD, RBAC.
• Experience owning production services and implementing observability.
• Ability to translate security, privacy, and audit requirements into technical controls.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical work without direct reporting lines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and productionise AI products and shared platform services, taking a workstream end to end and owning it through to live running.
• Build for reuse by turning capabilities into shared components, libraries, skills, tools, MCP servers, and connectors.
• Implement infrastructure as code, own CI/CD pipelines, and ensure services are adopted with clear ownership and controls.
• Investigate incidents and defects, lead recovery, and carry fixes through to root cause.
• Engineer agentic workflows, including prompt design, tool usage, memory, retrieval, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Implement model routing and the gateway to handle provider changes without losing capability.
• Build the orchestration layer for long-running agents, with permissions, isolation, and safe execution.
• Develop evaluation, observability, and release evidence for AI systems.
