Janus Henderson Investors in Colorado (hybrid) seeks a Senior Data Engineer to own the technical direction for a data platform subsystem. You will influence architectural decisions, design resilient data products, and guide standards across the Data Engineering guild.

You will mentor engineers, craft scalable pipelines, and drive production-grade AI tooling with guardrails in a regulated environment. Colorado-based hybrid role.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in at least one data platform pillar (Snowflake, dbt, orchestration, CDC/streaming).
• Advanced SQL skills for performance tuning and cost optimization.
• Strong Python engineering with reusable frameworks.
• Designs systems spanning multiple products/domains with risk awareness.
• Experience with delivery trade-offs including build-versus-buy.

Responsibilities

• Own design and delivery of data engineering capabilities across subsystems or cross-product concerns.
• Design systems that span multiple products or domains (entitlement models, semantic layers, pipelines).
• Provide deep technical expertise in platform pillars (Snowflake, dbt, orchestration).
• Build reusable assets (dbt macros, Python packages, ingestion frameworks).
• Diagnose performance, reliability and cost issues at multiple levels.
• Mentor engineers, run design reviews, and set standards.
• Communicate trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
