Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Massachusetts seeks a Senior Applications Engineer to partner with R&D, engineering and customers to develop and launch new products and solutions.

You will provide technical support for worldwide sales of V&IPS products, travel to customer sites, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve customer applications issues. A hands-on, customer-focused engineer with 5+ years of experience is ideal.

Qualifications

• B.S. in an Engineering or Physical Science field; Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years in a design, applications, or manufacturing engineering role.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills for working with customers and in-house personnel.
• Experience or ability to learn vacuum technology, pressure control, mass flow controllers, vacuum valves, plasma systems, and systems integration.
• Must be hands-on at customer locations or in internal labs; proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for worldwide MKS sales for V&IPS products, including product selection and troubleshooting.
• Travel to customer sites to discuss product features and integration, support testing or installation, or troubleshoot problems (up to 50% travel).
• collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Applications Engineers to perform tests or demonstrations to resolve customer applications issues.
• Define and document special customer product configurations, and generate, review, and price quotes for customers.
