Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Andover, MA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to partner with manufacturing, supply chain, applications, and customers to develop and support vacuum valves.

You will design, analyze, prototype, test, and iterate advanced mechanical products, leveraging SolidWorks, CFD/FEA tools, and close collaboration with teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability across lifecycle stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Engineering required.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks).
• Experience with manual and FEA stress analysis.
• CFD modeling experience.
• Experience with Vacuum Technology.
• Mechanical fabrication techniques (machining, welding) knowledge.
• Knowledge of ECO (Engineering Change Order) process.
• Technical experience in product development and manufacturing.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop vacuum valve assemblies and mechanical products.
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings; develop specifications.
• Perform stress and CFD analyses using SolidWorks, Comsol, or Ansys.
• Prototype, test, and iterate designs with manufacturing teams.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable, reliable, and meet quality standards.
