Citi in New York is seeking a seasoned Applications Development Senior Group Manager to lead multiple engineering teams. You will drive architecture and governance for enterprise-grade platforms, partner with stakeholders, and shape technical direction for scalable, compliant financial applications.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic impact, and delivering high-availability systems across global platforms, with a focus on risk management and innovation.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in application development and engineering leadership in regulated financial services environments.
• 8-10+ years of managerial experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams with full accountability for performance management, hiring, talent development, and organizational design.
• Demonstrated experience architecting and leading the delivery of enterprise-grade application platforms; ability to set and enforce technical standards and governance.
• Hands-on with cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure, and proficient with Docker and Kubernetes to deliver scalable, high-availability solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of programming languages including Java, Python, TypeScript, and COBOL; ability to lead coding standards and maintainability across teams.
• Experience leading integration architectures using TIBCO, Apache Kafka, and MuleSoft for high-throughput data processing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD for safe deployments.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, Redis; experience with data modeling and performance optimization.
• Experience implementing observability strategies with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, and Splunk for reliability and incident response.
• Exposure to AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, plus cloud ML services like SageMaker and Azure ML.
• PMI PMP certification or MBA and relevant technical certifications; understanding of financial products and regulatory dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop multiple teams of professionals, handling performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions while enforcing best practices.
• Develop a clear vision for team roles and structure to maximize impact and resource efficiency.
• Prepare and present regular team/project reviews to senior management and business leaders.
• Drive design and development of system architecture; work with end-users to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Ensure staff adherence to Citi policies and thorough documentation for filings and procedures.
• Monitor budgets, planning, policy formation, and contribute to future strategy of the area.
• Ensure change management with controls and regulatory reporting compliance; maintain up-to-date documentation.
• Identify and resolve issues; provide recommendations and elevate to senior management when needed.
• Oversee disaster recovery plans, testing, and deployment readiness for new applications.
• Lead staff forums and communicate updates to engage teams across locations; promote transparency and best practices.
• Mentor and grow senior engineers and managers; foster technical excellence and inclusive team development.
• Align engineering roadmaps with enterprise strategy and regulatory requirements; influence technology direction.
