Job summary

Citi is seeking an Applications Development Senior Group Manager in New York to lead multi-team engineering efforts across enterprise-scale platforms. The role emphasizes architecture, governance, and high-impact delivery in a regulated financial services environment.

The successful candidate will guide cloud-native solutions (AWS/Azure), drive CI/CD and observability practices, and mentor senior engineers while aligning engineering roadmaps with enterprise strategy and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in application development and engineering leadership in regulated financial services environments.
• 8-10+ years of managerial experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams with accountability for performance, hiring, and design.
• Experience architecting and leading enterprise-grade application platforms with governance and standards.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure for enterprise-scale solutions.
• Advanced expertise in Java, Python, TypeScript, or COBOL with coding standards guidance.
• Experience designing integration architectures using TIBCO, Apache Kafka, or MuleSoft for high-throughput data processing.
• Knowledge of containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and production stability across platforms.
• Experience establishing CI/CD using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD for safe deployments.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, Redis) and data architecture standards.
• Experience leading observability strategies (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk) and incident response.
• Mentorship and growth of senior engineers/managers with a culture of excellence and inclusion.
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and cloud-native services; strategic technology direction in regulated domains.
• Education credentials including Bachelor's and Master's degrees; PMP/MBA or certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop multiple engineering teams; manage performance, hiring, and discipline while ensuring best practices.
• Define team vision, structure, and alignment to business goals for maximum impact.
• Present regular team and project reviews to senior management and stakeholders.
• Drive system architecture decisions and collaboration with end-users for quality deliverables.
• Enforce policy, governance, and regulatory requirements with robust documentation and controls.
• Oversee budgeting, planning, and strategic direction for technology areas.
• Manage disaster recovery plans and testing; ensure operability for new applications.
• Lead local staff forums and disseminate global and location updates to the team.
• Establish and enforce CI/CD and observability practices; ensure production stability and high reliability.
• Mentor engineers and engineering managers to foster technical excellence and inclusive culture.
