Groundswell seeks an Appian Data Architect to join a mission-critical federal program in the Washington, DC area. You will lead data modeling, data architecture, and integrations within a cross-functional team, delivering scalable, secure data solutions on the Appian platform.

You will partner with solution architects, developers, and client stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into robust data designs, while guiding governance, performance, and security in a federal context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in software development, application/data architecture, or related technical discipline.
• Experience designing data solutions for complex enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Experience designing integrations using APIs and web services.
• Experience with Appian or a comparable platform.
• Ability to translate business/functional requirements into scalable data architectures.
• Strong communication with technical and client stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable data architectures for enterprise apps.
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models and standards.
• Design data solutions on Appian, including data stores and record types.
• Define data storage, access, integration, and exchange with external systems.
• Design relational databases and complex SQL queries for performance.
• Collaborate with Appian architects, developers and integration teams.
• Evaluate data structures for scalability, performance, and quality.
• Design data integrations using APIs and web services.
• Establish data governance, security, and metadata standards.
• Troubleshoot complex data/app issues and propose resolutions.
• Participate in architecture reviews and align with federal standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.
• Collaborate with federal client stakeholders to gather requirements.
