Job summary

CVS Health is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead an enterprise API platform team. You will drive design and delivery of scalable APIs integrated with gateway technologies like Kong, Apigee, and Azure API Management, partnering with engineering, product, and design to empower thousands of developers across CVS Health.

You will hire and mentor high-performing engineers, set OKRs, focus on security, testing, accessibility, and the developer experience, and advocate

Qualifications

• 7+ years of leadership experience, directly managing individual contributors.
• 7+ years of experience building enterprise grade applications at scale.
• 5+ years of experience with JavaScript.
• 3+ years of experience with TypeScript and modern Node.js backend development.
• Experience with API gateway technologies such as Kong, Apigee, or Azure API Management.
• Experience with distributed workflows, asynchronous orchestration, or job-processing systems such as Temporal or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead API platform strategy and roadmap.
• Partner with leaders across engineering, business, and product to build a strategy and roadmap.
• Hire and retain high performing engineers.
• Own design and architecture for new capabilities across teams.
• Advocate engineering best practices, including test coverage and security.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure developer-centric API platform.
• Mentor and coach team members to build strong engineering culture.
