Job summary

Varsity Spirit is seeking an experienced Senior Front-End Engineer to design, build, and maintain the Yearbook Technology platform’s UI. You will deliver responsive, accessible interfaces and collaborate with backend teams to integrate RESTful services.

The role emphasizes modern Angular patterns, a strong TypeScript foundation, and performance-oriented development. Remote-friendly, with a focus on high-quality, scalable front-end solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 6 years of professional front-end development experience.
• Strong Angular proficiency, including Angular Signals.
• Solid TypeScript, RxJS, and component-based architecture skills.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs with front-end integration.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jasmine/Karma, Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and ARIA-compliant UI.
• Experience with state management (NgRx, RxJS, or Signals-based).
• Comfort with Agile/Scrum and collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain responsive, accessible front-end applications using Angular (React a plus).
• Create reusable UI components and design-system elements with modern Angular patterns.
• Develop canvas-based editing experiences for the Yearbook platform (FabricJS a plus).
• Implement styling with Tailwind CSS and modern CSS practices.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate UI with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Implement client-side state management for complex, interactive UIs.
• Build and maintain automated front-end tests (unit, component, E2E).
• Ensure WCAG conformance and accessibility validation with QA/Product teams.
• Optimize front-end performance for rendering-heavy interfaces.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot production UI issues and implement fixes.
• Continually improve development processes, tooling, and infrastructure.
