Job summary

Varsity Spirit, a Varsity Brands company, seeks a senior front-end engineer to design, build, and maintain a modern UI for our Yearbook Technology platform. You will create responsive, accessible applications using Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS, while collaborating with backend services and QA teams.

You will work on canvas-based editing experiences, styling with Tailwind CSS, and contribute to performance optimizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 6 years front-end development experience.
• Experience with backend or full-stack tech, including Java.
• Strong proficiency with Angular (current versions), incl. Angular Signals.
• Strong command of TypeScript, RxJS, and modern component-based architecture.
• Experience with state management (NgRx, RxJS, or Signals).
• Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating with backend services.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jasmine/Karma, Jest, Cypress, or Playwright).
• WCAG accessibility knowledge and ARIA-compliant UI.
• Experience optimizing front-end performance, canvas-based interfaces.
• Familiarity with Storybook.
• Excellent problem-solving and ability to work independently.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and maintains responsive, accessible front-end applications using Angular; React experience is a plus.
• Builds and maintains reusable UI components and design-system elements using Angular patterns including Signals.
• Develops canvas-based, interactive editing experiences for Yearbook design platform; FabricJS a plus.
• Implements styling and responsive layouts using Tailwind CSS and modern CSS practices.
• Collaborates with backend engineers to integrate UI components with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Implements client-side state management and data-flow patterns (RxJS, NgRx, or Angular Signals).
• Builds and maintains automated front-end tests (unit, component, end-to-end).
• Implements WCAG-compliant UI patterns with QA/product on accessibility validation.
• Optimizes front-end performance for rendering-heavy interfaces.
• Mentors junior front-end engineers and participates in code reviews.
